In-Depth Information
The big dive attraction is the Scylla ( www.divescylla.com ) . This gutted former Royal Navy
warship was sunk near Plymouth by the National Marine Aquarium in 2004 in order to
study how reefs form. Devon and Cornwall's coasts have more than 4600 wrecks; the
Isles of Scilly alone has a remarkable 150 recognised dive sites.
The British Sub Aqua Club ( 0151-3506200; www.bsac.com ) approves training centres. Popular
dive bases include Exmouth, Plymouth and the Isles of Scilly. A half-day taster is around
£50; four-day training courses start at £375.
