a connifer plantation, with a huge kitchen, lots of rustic stone walls, snug doubles and
comfy dorms. It's a mile south of Postbridge down an unmarked lane, and is signed off the
B3212.

At this converted hayloft set on a working farm,
you'll be rolling out your sleeping bag to a soundtrack of bleating sheep. It's 1.5 miles
east of Postbridge: take the 'Widecombe' turning off the Moretonhampstead road.

Just arriving at this
beautifully furnished Victorian house is an atmospheric experience - it's hidden away at
the end of a moss-lined track. There are rich tapestries, linens and antique furniture inside;
birdsong, a rushing river and total tranquility outside. It's a 10-minute walk from Post-
bridge.

This former tin miner's
haunt exudes the kind of hospitality you only get in a pub in the middle of nowhere. A
Dartmoor legend, its stone floors, trestle tables and hearty food are given an extra glow by
a fire that's been crackling non-stop since 1845. Try its warrener's (rabbit) pie; named
after the men who used to farm the creatures on the moor. It's on the B3212, two miles
north of Postbridge.
