Day 5 : Ruta de los Siete Lagos
Eat br eakfast, check out, and stop at a
supermarket for picnic supplies. Then
head nor th on RN 234, the spectacular
Ruta de los S iete Lagos. I t's 110km (68
miles) to S an M artín de los Andes, but
give yourself most of the day to get ther e.
Plan to stop frequently to explore the lake-
shores at Lago Corr entoso and Lago
Falkner. The Vuliñaco water fall is a gr eat
picnic spot. You'll arrive in San Martín de
los Andes, B ariloche's tidier and smaller
sister, in time for an afternoon tea at the
historic Arrayán Tea House (p. 337).
Make y our plans for the follo wing day 's
activities. Check into your inn at La Casa
de Eugenia
9pm. Tonight, choose a traditional Argen-
tine asado at either Tarquino (p. 322) or
Rincon Patagonico (p. 324).
Day 3 : Bariloche Rafting
There are many active adventures to choose
from in Bariloche: sea kayaking, hiking, or
fishing, to name a few. My absolute favorite
is white-water rafting on the emerald
Manso Riv er, south of B ariloche, with
Huala Adventure Tourism (p. 313).They'll
pick you up at your hotel at 9am and drive
south thr ough the lush v alleys past lakes
Gutiérrez, Mascardi, and Guillelmo, before
turning w est to ward the height of the
Andes. The rafting is intense and adrena-
line-packed, for good swimmers only!

After lunch, a big barbecue will r echarge
you befor e y ou head back to to wn. You
may be up for a lighter dinner tonight
after that big lunch. Try Kandahar
(p. 341). S an Martín has many good r es-
taurants; tr y La Tasca
(p . 342) or La
Reserva (p. 343).
Day 6 : San Martín de los Andes
Eat breakfast and leave the car behind. Your
hiking guide is her e to driv e y ou to the
lovely trails of Lanín N ational Park. In the
evening, head to La Fondue de Betty
or
Vegetariano (p. 320 and 323).
Day 4 : Villa La Angostura
Eat breakfast, check out, and giv e yourself
some time to explore the shops and markets
of Bariloche. The drive continues along RN
231 along the north shore of Nahuel Huapi
Lake to the swish to wn of Villa la Angos-
tura, which is definitely an upscale joint.

bling and scrumptious fondue dinner, with
vino tinto of course!
Day 7 : Bariloche & Home
Check out, fill up the tank, and take the
“other” way back to B ariloche. You can
either go via the lovely mountain village of
Villa T rafúl, or via the mar velous raw
canyons of the Paso Cór doba. You'll be
back in B ariloche in time to catch a
midafternoon flight to Buenos Aires.
Check into Las B alsas (p . 329) or
into the more economical Hostería Puerto
Sur (p. 331), in the lakeside suburb of
Bahia Manzano. Lunch on the water at the
Correntoso H otel's P uerto r estaurant
(p. 330), then hike out the Arrayan penin-
sula, taking a boat back to the por t. Enjoy
an afternoon of fishing or hiking, then head
to the excellent Tinto Bistro
(p. 332)
for dinner or La Delfina
(p. 332).
