glaciers, thick for ests, and wide-open plains. There is much to see her e, enough to keep
hard-core hikers and backpackers busy for a month.
This itinerary starts with a day spent visiting the stunning P erito Moreno Glacier and
hiking on the ice itself. Then head north to El Chaltén, the “National Capital of Trekking.”
The hikes are demanding, but easily manageable for fit people with some tr ekking experi-
ence. Each day ends back in to wn for a good meal and a hot sho wer.
The best time of y ear for this trip is either N ovember or M arch, when the winds ar e
relatively calm, and the trails ar e less busy than in high season ( Jan-Feb).
