less log cabins, each with two or three single beds. The ablutions block for the cabins is
much nicer than the campsite's basic squat toilets.
From the car park, a 17km loop track heads up Mt Bendovac (1774m) for awesome lake
views before continuing up Mt Razverše (2033m). Apart from a couple of steep climbs, it's
a fairly straightforward six-hour hike.
Getting There & Away
The nearest bus stop is an hour's walk from the lake, at Kraljevo Kolo, and the nearest
train station is a 90-minute walk, at Štitarička Rijeka.

Mojkovac Мојковац
POP 3600
Despite being on the doorstep of two national parks, Mojkovac (pronounced ' moy·
ko·vahts') doesn't have a lot to offer tourists - at least not yet. Over recent years there's
been a concerted effort to clean up the toxic legacy of centuries of silver, lead and zinc
mining. Now that the task has been largely completed, the United Nations Development
Programme has turned its attention to encouraging adventure tourism and organic farm-
ing - watch this space.
The centre of town is triangular Trg Ljubomira Bakoča, encompassing a pretty little
park and a large pompous statue of Janko Vukotić, who led Montenegrin forces in a vic-
tory against Austria-Hungary in the WWI Battle of Mojkovac. Everything is laid out
around the square, including a bank and a post office at its pointy end.
Surrounding it is a slew of decaying apartment blocks which residents have made an
effort to decorate with flower boxes. On the approach to town there's a WWII memorial
resembling a giant tooth; Mojkovac lost 10% of its population in the war.
A steep path leads from the centre of Mojkovac on a 17km (six-hour) loop through the
surrounding mountains; take trail 310 and return on 319 and then 301. Mojkovac's rail-
way station is the starting point of a 309km, six- to seven-day mountain-biking loop (Top
Biking Trail 3: Eastern Enchantment) which takes in Biogradska Gora National Park,
Gusinje, Plav and Rožaje.
