set in verdant surrounds shelters immaculate, bright rooms with back-friendly mattresses,
crisply dressed beds and impeccable bathrooms. Meals are CFA2000 to CFA4000.
Le Geyser HOTEL $$
( 24 41 04 67; www.hotellegeyser.com ; r CFA14,000-19,000; ) You'll find the tranquil
Hôtel Le Geyser 2km from the centre on the road to Klouto, in a balmy garden setting.
Rooms are well-tended, functional and airy, and the restaurant (mains CFA2000 to
CFA5000) serves good African and European dishes. A real hit is the pool.
Chez Fanny INN $$
( 24 41 00 99; hotelchezfanny@yahoo.fr; Rte de Lomé; r CFA18,000; ) This jolly good villa
2km south of town is a homey retreat. The eight rooms are huge and the patio is a lovely
spot to relax, despite the fact it overlooks the busy Rte de Lomé. The restaurant (mains
CFA2000 to CFA6000) is the best in town.
Hotel Agbeviade HOTEL $$
( 24 41 05 11; agbeviade2003@yahoo.fr; Rte de Missahoé; r with fan CFA8500, with air-con CFA16,500-19,500;
) Off the road to Klouto, the Agbeviade is a safe choice, although the smallish air-con
rooms are a bit disappointing for the price. The short menu concentrates on European
dishes.
Le Fermier AFRICAN, FRENCH $$
( 90 02 98 30; mains CFA2000-4000; lunch & dinner daily) For excellent European and African
food, try this low-roofed, intimate spot on the northwestern outskirts of town. You can't
really go wrong - everything is pretty good - but if you want a recommendation, go for
the fufu (pounded yam), served in a clay pot.
Chez Lazare FRENCH $$
(Rte de Missahoé; mains CFA1000-4000; lunch & dinner daily) Don't be put off by the unappealing
concrete walls. Lazare cooks up excellent French specialities as well as pasta. How does a
côte de porc à la dijonnaise (pork rib in mustard sauce) sound? The rooftop terrace is
pleasant in the evening.
