Orientation
Around Platô, the town tumbles onto the land below; to the east are Achada Grande and
the port, and to the southwest is the more affluent residential area of Achada Santo
António, home to the parliament building and some embassies. Due south of Platô is the
beachfront area known as Prainha and further away is the beach of Quebra-Canela, with
several restaurants and bars.

There are ATMs throughout the city, especially around Praça Alexandre Albuquérque.
The main post office is three blocks east of this square.
There's no official tourist office as such; you're best off talking to a private travel
agency.
Internet cafes are scarce, but the two main squares in Platô (Praça Alexandre Al-
buquérque and Praça 11 Maio) have free wi-fi.

Getting Around
It is best to move around Praia by taxi at night, no matter what the distance, as crime has
been on the rise, especially in Achada Santo António.
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
A taxi from the airport to Platô (5km) costs around CVE800. There's no regular bus ser-
vice.
