Bimbia Rainforest & Mangrove Trail WALKING
( 7733 7014; bbcnaturetrail@yahoo.com) Located about an hour south of Limbe and running
through the only coastal lowland rainforest remaining between Douala and Limbe. An ex-
perienced guide will take you on day tours through some rather lovely submerged woods,
birdwatching areas and old slave-trading sites. You'll have to pay CFA5000 for the local
development fee, which goes towards the village of Bimbia and mangrove preservation,
CFA3000 for a guide, and CFA15,000 for a taxi brousse (bush taxi) from Limbe, making
this a trip best done in a group. To arrange tours talk to the guys who hang around the
botanic gardens, arrange a trip through the Fako Tourist Board ( Click here ) or contact
Bimbia Rainforest and Mangrove Trail.

( 2281 6245; off Makangal St; r CFA9000, with air-con CFA12,000-16,000; ) The best-value budget
place in town, the Victoria has clean and well-maintained rooms on the hill above Limbe's
main restaurant strip: follow the path up behind the King William Hotel. Nearly all rooms
have air-con, but there are a couple of cheaper fan-cooled variants.

( 7467 8084; off Makangal St; s/d/ste from CFA6000/10,000/15,000) If you're on a very tight budget
then the Bay offers big, rather damp fan-cooled rooms with tiny bathrooms that, in some
cases at least, come with wide verandahs. Unfortunately, they also tend to pick up the
noise of the party people in the nearby bars.
Bird Watchers' Club GUESTHOUSE $$
OFFLINE MAP
( 9683 8188, 7573 4086; Limbe Botanical Gardens; r CFA15,000; ) This charmingly secluded
spot on a rocky promontory overlooks the sea. With just two rooms it's a good idea to call
ahead and book. You'll be rewarded with spacious accommodation with double beds and
mosquito nets and a great restaurant with superb sea views.
