including lots of wind and possible summer lightning storms. The view from the fire tower is
superb. You may also access the trail from the Dunraven Pass parking area; by following this
route, you avoid a narrow ridge that must be traversed just before the summit.
Expect to see bighorn sheep, which are amazingly tame here and may pose for your cam-
era. The older rams have huge horns curved nearly in a circle, while young rams and ewes
have short, slightly curved horns.
A pink species of paintbrush thrives north of Dunraven Pass.
Wildflowers abound in the entire area in July and early August. It's possible to find Indian
paintbrush, phlox, forget-me-nots, lupine, sticky geranium, larkspur, silky phacelia, and many
others.
