Grant Village
Near the entrance to the campground is a small ranger station and a
picnic area with some fire grates.
Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are available at the general store, family restaurant,
visitor center, laundry building, and picnic area.
Politics and Grant Village
The construction of Grant Village had a long and complicated history, starting from pre-
liminary surveys of the area in 1947. At that time the National Park Service decided it was
desirable to relocate West Thumb's facilities farther away from the thermal features of the
