Billed as an 'intelligent garden city', Putrajaya is impressive, but like other planned cit-
ies it can also be a strange place to visit. Its heart is a 600-hectare artificial lake fringed by
landscaped parks and an eclectic mix of buildings and bridges, best viewed when illumin-
ated at night. However, it's still a long way off its envisioned population of over 300,000
and is practically devoid of streetlife.

Getting There & Away
» Train KLIA transit trains from KL Sentral and KLIA stop at the Putrajaya-Cyberjaya
station (from KL Sentral it costs RM9.50 one way and takes 20 minutes).
» Bus Buses 100, 101 and 300 run from the train station to close to Dataran Putra (50
sen); a taxi there is RM13, while hiring one for an hour to tour the sights (the recommen-
ded option) is RM40.
» Bicycle Bicycles (RM4 per hour) can be hired from the tourist-information booth.
» Tour From the tourist-information booth and Putrajaya station, the two-hour Best of
Putrajaya bus tour (
11.30am & 3pm Sat & Sun) runs on the weekends only.
