In-Depth Information
If you need to, freshen up back at your hotel before returning to explore the Islamic Arts Museum ( Click here ),
where you can check out the excellent collection and any classes or lectures being given. The shop here is an in-
teresting one to browse for gifts, souvenirs and books.
Explore the Gardens
Join garden lovers by exploring the Perdana Botanical Garden ( Click here ). Consider booking a private guided
walk around the sections, which include a deer park, hibiscus, orchid and herb gardens as well as many heritage
trees predating the establishment of the park. If you have kids, the adventure playground will enable them to burn
off energy and meet local children.
Feed the Birds (and Yourself)
Locals have a soft spot for the nasi lemak (rice boiled in coconut milk, served with fried anchovies and peanuts)
at the Hornbill Restaurant ( Click here ) - you'd be wise to join them here for lunch. Afterwards wander through
the free-flight zones of the KL Bird Park ( Click here ) , check out the eagles being fed at 2.30pm and perhaps chat
with a warden about the park's successful breeding programs.
Admire the National Mosque
You can only visit the Masjid Negara ( Click here ) outside of main prayer times, so time your visit here for
between 3pm and 4pm. Don't worry if you're not dressed appropriately - there are voluminous purple robes for
non-Muslim men and women to cover up their bare arms and legs (and women's heads).
6 Afternoon Tea at the Majestic Hotel
Walk around the corner from the grand buildings of the old KL train station to take afternoon tea in the plush her-
itage wing of the Majestic Hotel ( Click here ) alongside manicured and bejewelled datins and tai tais (wealthy so-
ciety Malay and Chinese women).
