LaGuardia Airport
Used mainly for domestic flights, LaGuardia is smaller than JFK but only eight miles
from midtown Manhattan; it sees about 26 million passengers per year.

Private vehicle
The most common driving route from the airport is along Grand Central
Expressway to the BQE (US 278), then to the Queens-Midtown Tunnel via the LIE (US
495). Downtown-bound drivers can stay on the BQE and cross (free) via the Williamsburg
Bridge.

Subway/bus
It's less convenient to use public transportation to get from LaGuardia into
the city. The best subway link is the 74th St-Broadway station (7 line, or the E, F, M and
R lines at the connecting Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Ave station) in Queens, where you can
pick up the new Q70 Express Bus to the airport (about 10 minutes to the airport).
Newark Liberty International Airport
Don't write off New Jersey when looking for air fares to New York. The same distance
from Midtown as JFK, Newark's airport, 16 miles from Midtown, brings many New
Yorkers out for flights (there's some 36 million passengers annually).

Car service/taxi
A car service runs about $45 to $60 for the 45-minute ride to Midtown
- a taxi is roughly the same. You only have to pay the $13 toll to go through the Lincoln
Tunnel (at 42nd St) or Holland Tunnel (at Canal St) coming into Manhattan from Jersey;
there's no charge going back through to NJ.

Subway/train
NJ Transit runs rail services (with an AirTrain connection) between Ne-
wark airport (EWR) and New York's Penn Station for $12.50 each way. The trip takes 25
minutes and runs every 20 or 30 minutes from 4:20am to about 1:40am. Hold onto your
ticket, which you must show upon exiting at the airport.
