Beginning artists may be tempted to hide the animal's feet in grass or
hay, because feet can be the most intimidating body part to draw. However,
if you have good reference material, and if you practice, you can end up
with a drawing that is much more convincing because it includes the feet.
Puppy Paw
Puppies and dogs do not have retractable claws. They also have a dew claw
and carpal pad on the front paws. In this side view, the dark paw pads are
clearly visible. Puppy paw pads are relatively large, and not as soft as a kit-
ten's. The hair grows quite thickly between the pads.
