In-Depth Information
Kitten Paws
Kittens and cats have retractable claws. Often there is a small space in the
fur of the toes where the claw has retracted. The front foot has a dew claw,
which is above the other toes, as if it were a thumb; beyond that there is a
pad called the carpal pad. The back feet do not have dew claws.
Fingerlike Paw
Raccoons and mice have paws that resemble hands. The long hair of the
legs stops at the wrist. The paws are very mobile and can be used for ma-
nipulating objects and food much as a human's hands do. Seeing an animal
in a humanlike pose can be very appealing to many people.
