Puppies
When photographing pets, I try to avoid placing them on grass. This photo
shows why: a lot of the legs and feet are hidden by the grass. If I wanted to
draw this puppy in another setting, the lack of detail there could be a prob-
lem. Also, you might want to print a photo of a black-furred puppy lighter
than usual to bring out some of the details in the darkest areas.
Birds
I find that baby birds are the hardest subjects to photograph, simply because
you don't see them up close very often. This baby blue jay fell out of its
nest and ended up in our shed. The photo has a busier background than I
would like, especially around the feet, but sometimes you don't have any
choice.
