Rua 25 de Abril 13; s €45-60, d €50-70; )
This little gem is
one of Lagos's best-value spots. It's a central, well-run and delightfully welcoming place,
with comfortable, neat rooms, some with sea views. Owner Rui (and helpful staff) are
people-in-the-know. A simple breakfast is an added bonus.
Pousada da Juventude
( 282 761 970;

Rua Lançarote de Freitas 50; dm/d €17/45; )
This well-run
hostel is a good place to meet other travellers. It is slightly worn, thanks to its popularity,
but there's a kitchen and pleasant courtyard, and the reception is very helpful. It's open 24
hours.

Sol a Sol
( 282 761 290; Rua Lançarote de Freitas 22; r €65-70 )
This central, small hotel has rooms with tiny
balconies and views over the town; it's a bit dated but has had some recent renovations
and the rooms are neat and clean. Prices are considerably less than stated outside high sea-
son.

Rooms in this simple,
unpretentious, but adequate spot, are small but comfortable, with parquetry wood floors
and balconies (no view).
Inn Seventies
(Rua Marquês de Pombal; d €90-120; )
There's a touch of Austin Powers here - a retro-
mod spot that bills itself as 'boutique' in a converted 1970s bank building. The owner has
flipped out on the decade's theme across its 10 'suites' - think psychadelic blues, limes,
purples and reds. It's fun, if verging on 'nearly-but-not-quite-there'.
