scuffed, are well equipped with fridge and hairdryer, and several have bathtubs as well as
showers. There is plenty of communal kickback space, including a rooftop solarium and
garden, complete with gazebo. It's family owned, and the daughter Teresa speaks some
English.

) This historical building dates from the 18th century and has been tastefully restored.
Rooms exude Italian style with painted furniture from Tuscany, coupled with traditional
wrought-iron beds, Murano glass chandeliers, and majolica and terracotta tiles. Modern
perks include Sky TV; some rooms have Jacuzzis, all have fridges, plus balconies with sea
views.

pass this pedestrian thoroughfare daily, the Palazzo Murat is a magnificent hotel. Housed
within the 18th-century palazzo that the one-time King of Naples used as his summer res-
idence, the lush gardens contain banana trees, bottle brush, Japanese maple and pine trees.
Rooms, five in the original part of the building (more expensive), 25 in the newer section,
are decorated with sumptuous antiques, original oil paintings and plenty of glossy marble.

Mediterranean feel, while the rooftop pool (with its adjacent snack bar) has some of the
best views in town. The rooms are white and bright with classical-themed tiled frescoes.
Downstairs, there's a small bar, plus a gym with hi-tech machinery (as if you didn't get
enough exercise in this town), and a Wellness Centre offering a Turkish bath, massages
and various toning treatments (also open to the public). An additional annexe houses nine
more rooms with similar decor.
