This island is all about lemon trees, pavement cafes, sultry summer evenings and wearing
the largest pair of shades you can get your hands on. In other words, accommodation is
strictly seasonal, which means bed space is tight and, in general, costly.

Oct; ) A veritable rural retreat, Villa Eva is hidden among fruit and olive trees,
which are strung with hammocks. The rooms have lashings of white linen and character,
including tiled fireplaces and domed ceilings. Good for families, facilities include a swim-
ming pool and treetop views down to the sea. The only drawback is that it's tricky to get to
(take the Grotta Azzurra bus from Anacapri and ask the driver where to get off), or cough
up €30 for a port-side taxi.

charming one-star hotel is hidden down a quiet back lane overlooking the Certosa di San
Giacomo and the mountains. The rooms are airy and comfortable with pine furniture, light
tiles, striped fabrics and large bathrooms. Several have private terraces, complete with deck
chairs and rattan furniture. The owner, a genial, hospitable guy, speaks fluent English (his
wife is American).
