Pamuk's novels are mostly set in İstanbul, including the existential whodunit Black Book and the 16th-century
murder mystery My Name is Red . The nonfiction İstanbul: Memories and the City explores Pamuk's relationship
with the city, where he has opened a museum ( Click here ) inspired by his novel The Museum of Innocence .

With its skittish rhythms, shimmering sounds and strident vocals, Turkish pop is energetic
and distinctive. Sezen Aksu is widely regarded as the queen of Turkish pop, while the hip-
swivelling pop star Tarkan is a household name in Turkey.
The percussionist Burhan Öçal's New Dream is a funky take on classical Turkish mu-
sic, and his Trakya All-Stars albums are a Roma-Balkan investigation of the music of
Thrace. Mercan Dede's albums incorporate traditional instruments and electronic beats;
similarly, BaBa ZuLa create a fusion of dub, saz (Turkish lute) and pop, accompanied by
belly dancing at their performance 'events'.
Mixing metal, rock and Anatolian folk styles on their 2012 album e-akustik, maNga ap-
peared in Eurovision 2010.
