In-Depth Information
The easiest way to visit is on a boat tour from Kaş or Kalkan, starting with a bus ride to Üçağız , where you'll
board the boat. Declared off-limits to development, Üçağız is a fishing and farming village in an idyllic setting on a
bay. It was ancient Teimiussa, with its own Lycian necropolis.
After visiting Kekova, you'll have lunch on the boat and continue to Kaleköy (called Kale locally), a protected
village on the site of Simena, with a couple of submerged Lycian tombs just offshore. There's usually about an hour
to explore Kaleköy, and climb to the hilltop Crusader fortress (admission " 8) . Inside, the ancient world's tiniest
theatre is cut into the rock, and nearby are ruins of several temples and public baths. From the top you can look
down upon a field of Lycian tombs, and the old city walls are visible on the outskirts.
Tours from Kaş ( " 50 per person) generally leave at 10am and return around 6pm.

Olympos
An important Lycian city, Olympos worshipped Hephaestus (Vulcan), the god of fire,
which may have been inspired by the Chimaera. It later declined, before its fortunes im-
proved with the arrival of the Romans. Set inside a deep shaded valley that runs directly to
the sea, the ruins (admission " 3, 10 entries to ruins & beach " 7.50; 9am-7.30pm May-Oct, 8am-6pm

Ramble along the Ulupınar Stream that trickles down a rocky gorge to the beach.

Adventure Centre ( 892 1316; Kadır's Tree Houses; 8.30am-10pm) can organise boat
cruises, canyoning, mountain biking, diving, sea kayaking, trekking and rock climbing.
