İzmir's waterfront is dominated by large high-end business hotels, while inland are more
budget and midrange options, particularly around Kemeraltı Bazaar and Basmane train
station.
Bazaar & Basmane
If you want a budget hotel, we recommend heading to 1368 Sokak, west of Basmane train
station. Southwest of the station is an insalubrious area after dark.
MET BOUTIQUE HOTEL €€€

( 483 0111; www.metotel.com ; Gazi Bulvari 124; d from " 180; ) Met is indicative of the
increased popularity of İzmir for both travel and business. The new boutique hotel in the
CBD has sleek rooms with soothing colour schemes and streamlined furniture, but could
do with standalone desks or a little extra space. Still, the lobby cafe area is genuinely
funky and the service is worthy of the world's great cities.

HOTEL BAYLAN BASMANE €€
Offline map Google map
( 483 1426; www.hotelbaylan.com ; 1299 Sokak 8; s/d " 80/140) The newer Baylan is Basmane's
best option. The entrance via the huge car park is a little disconcerting, but inside is a spa-
cious and attractive hotel with a welcoming terrace out the back. All rooms have polished
floorboards and large bathrooms. Management speak little English.
