LastPass
You know those little prompts that your web browser gives you to save a password for future
use? They're stored in plain text files that anyone who knew where to look and had access
could easily open them up and read them. Not only that but if you change browsers or switch
computers then you don't carry over all the passwords unless you properly import them.
LastPass solves both those problems not only on your mobile device, but also on your reg-
ular computer as well. LastPass works by storing all of your passwords into an online data-
base that's locked with a master password and optional but recommended two factor authen-
tication setup by you. Whenever you browse to a website or use an app that's recognized as
having one of your saved passwords, it'll load it from LastPass but after user authentication
if it has timed out as per your security settings. If you do a lot of work, shopping, or gaming
online then LastPass will save your butt if you forget a password since LastPass remembers
your passwords for you. In addition, you can also have it generate long and hard to crack
passwords for you on every website. As the name would imply, your master password really
becomes the last password you need to remember outside of your computer log in and phone
unlock. It's totally free to use on the computer but has a meager $14/year annual fee to use
with your mobile android devices as well. Considering how much it makes passwords easier
and yet more secure at the same time, I find it's definitely worth the investment.
The Rundown
Your browsers, even your mobile ones, are insecurely storing passwords
You probably have forgot at least a few passwords in your lifetime
LastPass remembers your passwords, makes it feasible to store unique pass-
words on each account, and is cross-device since the data is stored on the
company's servers.
You only need to remember your master password and whatever you use to
log into your phone, tablet, and full size computer.
$14/Year is a bargain to not have criminals get into your accounts
