Eating
Among many traditional Sienese dishes are panzanella (summer salad of soaked bread,
basil, onion and tomatoes), ribollita (a rich vegetable, bean and bread soup), pappardelle
con la lepre (ribbon pasta with hare) and panforte (a rich cake of almonds, honey and can-
died fruit). Keep an eye out for dishes featuring the region's signature cinta senese (indi-
genous Tuscan pig).

Local gastronomes shop here as the range of cheese, cured meats and imported delicacies
is the best in Siena. Also notable is the downstairs lunch buffet, which offers fantastic
value. For a mere €12, you can graze on platters of antipasti, salads, pastas and a dessert
of the day. Bottled water is supplied, wine and coffee cost extra.

emporium of food and wine, much of it locally produced. There's a small bar area where
you can purchase and eat a slab of freshly cooked pizza (€12 to €14.30 per kg).
