as-is scenario . At the same time, services provided by the SHARE-it system are
anticipated (see table 2 as an example).
Roles of the Agents describes the interactions between the different agents and the
technology they represent. The different interacting roles present are taken from the
GAIA [30] specification of the SHARE-it Multi-Agent System and can be viewed
as an abstract description of the agent's expected functions. The main agent types
interacting in these scenarios are:
- Patient Agents ( pa ), which will run in PDAs or Ultra-Mobile PCs. An instan-
tiation of this agent should provide all the available and permitted services to
each user for instance security, mobility, monitoring and help services.
- The Vehicle Agents ( va ), allocated in the assistive hardware devices related to
the project, be it the different wheelchair (CARMEN, Rolland, Spherik) or in
the i-Walker . Most services will be related to mobility, monitoring and resource
management.
- The Caregiver Agents ( cga ) will be situated in the computers belonging to the
caregivers of SHARE-it target population as well as in their individual PDA.
These agents will be in charge of managing all the user's help request messages,
so they can be attended properly. Also, it will be notified if any anomalies are
detected in the user's biometric signals.
- The Environment Agent ( ea ) will run in a network computer connected to all
the environment network of sensors ( i.e. AmI sensors). Its basic target is to
distribute the information from all available sensors to all the agents interested.

He suffers from a mild mixed disability after stroke with a hemiparesis and im-

Narrative scenario. Two years ago, Pietro suffered from a stroke. He recovered well
and at moment he needs only a light support to walk, because he has left a mild
decrease of strength in his left leg. Sometimes he is not confident enough in the
sequence of actions needed to reach a goal. Today is Sunday and his caregiver has
his day off. At eleven in the morning Pietro gets a reminder from the GUI that if
he wants to go to church it is time to get ready. He is also reminded to put on
his shoes, the overcoat, to turn off the lights, and to lock the door. He gets to the
