reputation rides on innovative regional cuisine, as exemplified in reworked classics such
as spaghetti con sarde in crema di finocchietto (spaghetti with sardines in a fennel sauce)

cream and chocolate and mint jelly). Reservations required.

Orientation
Caltagirone is divided into an upper and lower town, with everything of interest in the up-
per town. Orientate yourself around Piazza Municipio, the upper town's focal square.
From here, the Scalinata di Santa Maria del Monte rises to the northeast, while shop-lined
Via Vittorio Emanuele heads off west and Via Luigi Sturzo runs northeast to Viale Regina
Elena, a ring road with useful parking. Just south of Piazza Municipio, Piazza Umberto
connects with Via Roma, which runs down to the Giardino Pubblico. Buses stop in Piazza
Umberto.
