In-Depth Information
( 339 3372795; www.baialevante.it ; Apr-Oct) If you prefer to explore Vulcano's waters on
your own, you can rent boats from this shack to the left of the hydrofoil dock. As a rough
guide, allow for anything between €60 and €120 per day for a four-person boat.
MUD-BATH TIPS
» Don't stay in longer than 10 or 15 minutes - the water/mud is slightly radioactive. Pregnant women should
avoid it altogether.
» Don't use your favourite fluffy towel or one you've 'borrowed' from a hotel - most hotels will provide a spe-
cial fanghi (mud bath) towel on request.
» If you have a sulphite allergy, stay away.
» Remember to remove watches and jewellery.
» Take flip-flops or sandals - there are hot air vents that can scald your feet.
» Wear a swimsuit you don't mind destroying: once the smell gets in, it's easier to buy a new one than to get rid
of the pong.
