; Hotel Arco Iris; mains US$15-19;
6-10pm Mon-Sat)
Don't leave town without eating here. Israeli chef Shlomy offers a short list of carefully
selected and perfectly prepared dishes. Depending on the availability of ingredients, you
might start with sashimi, grilled octopus or spicy tuna tartar. Follow up with seared tuna in
a honey chili marinade or filet mignon in red wine sauce.
The understated yet elegant open-air restaurant has indoor seating or romantic poolside
tables. Reservations are recommended.
Drinking & Nightlife
On Tamarindo weekends, all you really have to do is follow the scene wherever it happens
to go. Cruising the main drag has the festive feel of spring break, and nearly every bar
hosts a ladies' night.
Cafe Tico
CAFE
Walk in. Take a deep breath. Smell the coffee brewing? That's why you are here. Sip it on
the shady patio while snacking on a homemade pastry.

AMERICAN
The best snack in town is at this US-run surf camp, where you can order the famous
'nachos as big as your ass' (or sushi rolls), while sucking down cold ones on the outdoor
deck until 2am.
PacĂfico Bar
BAR
This place thinks it's a dance club, but it's really more of a tropical dive bar, with occasion-
al live bands and DJ. And that's OK. Better in fact. Come on Sunday for reggae and world
music.
