Relatively formal for Costa Rica, Angelina's offers fine dining in a breezy, open-air set-
ting. Innovative seafood preparations feature tropical fruits and local flavors. Frugal travel-
ers can feast on thin-crust pizzas with unique toppings or delectable pasta dishes, which
come in half-portions.
Getting There & Away
BUS
Buses depart from the traffic circle near the entrance of town and travel via Brasilito.
Schedules change often, so ask locally about departure times as well as the best place on
the road to wait for the bus.
Liberia (La Pampa) US$2; two hours; departs 5am, 12:30pm and 4pm.
San José (Tralapa) US$11; six hours; departs 9am and 2pm.
Santa Cruz US$2; one hour; departs 15 times per day from 5am to 10pm.
Playa Brasilito
Unlike the other touristy towns along this stretch, Brasilito feels like an authentic pueblo ,
complete with town square, beachfront soccer pitch, pink-washed iglesia (church) and
friendly Tico community. All of which makes up for the beach, which has its (much) bet-
ters on either side. Still, it's just a short stroll along the sea to sugary Conchal.
