In-Depth Information
the focus of the course is designed primarily as a prebusiness course. Table 1 presents a
detailed breakdown of the demographic data.
The students were asked several questions that provided a technology profile of the
students enrolled in our introductory computer course: 91.5% of the students owned a
computer; 92.1% of the students reported a version of Windows as their primary operating
system; and 52.7% of the students reported being on the Internet five or more hours per week.
Further, not counting time spent on the Internet, 41.1% of the students reported working on
the computer five or more hours per week. Many students, 64.7%, had high-speed access to
the Internet (cable modem, DSL, or high-speed access in the dorm via the campus network).
Table 2 shows some of the detailed technology demographics.
