A solid 19th-century town house on a central corner, Murray House gives a good first
impression with a genuine welcome. It continues with smart rooms with solid wooden fur-
niture and modern bathrooms, two of which offer secluded sloping-ceiling spaces on the
top floor. There's also an appealing lounge space. No credit cards.

place offering a short, seafood-based menu that features local and sustainably sourced
produce prepared in relatively simple ways, letting the natural flavours shine through. The
chef picks the best fish off the local boats every day, and the menu describes exactly
which boat and fishing grounds your morsel came from. Most rate it the best eatery in
Caithness.
