Mossman - only 20km north of Port - is a pleasant, unpretentious town with a sugar mill
and cane trains. Mossman is an obligatory stop on a visit to Mossman Gorge, and it's also
a good place to stock up on petrol and supplies if you're heading north.

In the southeast corner of Daintree National Park, 5km west of Mossman town,
Mossman Gorge forms part of the traditional lands of the Kuku Yalanji Indigenous
people. Carved by the Mossman River, the gorge is a boulder-strewn valley where spark-
ling water washes over ancient rocks.

- take care, as the currents can be swift. There's a picnic area here but no
camping. The complete circuit back to the entrance takes about an hour.
