Granite Belt Brewery

about the wine around here you know - there's a local brewery too. Swing into the bar at
the Happy Valley accommodation/restaurant to sample a few brews. A $12 tasting paddle
gives you a sample of each of the current offerings, which might include the Granite Pils-
ner, Poziers Porter or Irish Red Ale. Thirsty work.

The Granite Belt's leading cheesemaker delivers a tasty array of the good stuff, all avail-
able for sampling. Also on offer at the adjoining Jersey Girls Cafe are fantastic milk-
shakes and cheesecakes, Devonshire teas and light lunches, plus fresh-baked bread, chut-
neys and other picnic hamper-fillers. Don't leave without trying the whiffy Bastard Tail
washed rind soft cheese.

There's no denying it: chocolate makes a punchy accompaniment to a full-bodied red, and
Heavenly Chocolate prepares decadent hand-made chocolates and fudge - plus 21 differ-
ent creamy hot chocolates for those cold winter days. Smells heavenly!

strawberry signs along Townsend Rd to this berry patch with a sense of humour - worth
visiting for the ice cream with home-made berry compote, waffles with berries, jams, rel-
ishes, fortified berry wines, and of course fresh fruits (November to April).

2nd & 4th Sun of the month) Follow the locals into the Civic Centre for a Sunday morning artsy-
craftsy hit: lots of hand-made trinkets, plus coffee, fresh local produce and the odd busker
(…sometimes very odd).
