You can reach Huay Xai on a two-day longboat odyssey down the Nam Tha, sleeping en
route at a roadless village. For the ride, Luang Namtha agencies charge around US$120 to
US$300 per person depending on exact numbers, including accommodation, meals and a
tour guide throughout. You might get a better deal from the boat station ( 086-312014) be-
side the Boat Landing Guest House ( Click here ) . When river levels are low (January to
June), departures start from Na Lae, with agencies providing túk-túk transfers and pre-
arranging a boat.
