Wattay International Airport is the main transport hub for the rest of the country. Beside it

BOAT
Passenger boat services between Vientiane and Luang Prabang have become almost ex-
tinct, but a regular slow boat makes the trip from Vientiane to Pak Lai, 115km away.
Boats leave Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 8am (120,000K, about eight hours) from
Kiaw Liaw Pier, 3.5km west of the fork in the road where Rte 13 heads north in Ban Kiaw
Liaw.
