travellers thanks to its informative displays on one of the country's postwar curses, the
nonprofit Cambodia Landmine Museum has a mock minefield where visitors can search
for deactivated mines. It's situated about 25km from Siem Reap and 6km south of
Banteay Srei temple.
Angkor Butterfly Centre

south of the Cambodia Landmine Museum, near Banteay Srei, this is the largest fully en-
closed butterfly centre in Southeast Asia.

hibition introduces visitors to the history of the Khmer empire and the restoration projects
around Angkor through a series of short films and displays. Set in the beautiful Japanese
Team for Safeguarding Angkor (JSA) compound, it's considerably cheaper than the
Angkor National Museum, although there is no statuary on display.

Wat Thmei

( 6am-6pm) On the left fork of the road to Angkor Wat, Wat Thmei has a small
memorial stupa containing the skulls and bones of victims of the Khmer Rouge. It also
has plenty of young monks eager to practise their English.
