In-Depth Information
( 041 522 39 14; Campo San Luca 4592; 7pm-1am Tue-Sat; Rialto) Freeform, eclectic and loud,
Torino adds an element of the unexpected to otherwise staid San Marco. By day it's a
cafe, but after 7pm locals roll in for €2 to €5 drinks and marathon DJ sessions of vintage
reggae and soul on vinyl. Stop by Friday and Saturday after 9pm for a late bite or nightcap
with live jazz, blues or rock.

Romance is in the air in Venice - but the top-notch wines lining these exposed-brick walls
surely help. From 6.30pm till 8pm locals crowd the bar for prime selections from the
chalkboard list of wines available by the glass. Starters and mains here are variable, costly
and occasionally microwaved, but cheese plates and a book-size wine list make this a
post-concert destination.
LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
A DRINK WITH A VIEW
Eating options in San Marco boil down to a simple choice: good food or a view. Getting both is nearly impos-
sible, especially at reasonable prices - but you can always enjoy Piazza San Marco panoramas over coffee or
aperitivi , then spelunk into the sestiere 's narrow alleyways for cicheti or pasta at hidden osterie . For scenic
canalside dining at more down-to-earth prices, try Cannaregio, Giudecca or San Polo.
