ternational Film Festival, where films are shown in their original language. But the most
cinematic crowd scenes are at free summer movies dubbed into Italian at Campo San
Polo's Summer Arena, and on Lido sands during the summer open-air movie series at

Between film festivals and summer screenings, catch award-winning films (sometimes
subtitled) and blockbusters (usually dubbed) at Multisala Rossini, a new three-screen ven-
ue with digital sound in the heart of San Marco. For revivals and rare cuts in the original

Theatre & Dance
Dance performances are staged year-round in Venice, but especially in summer, during the
Venice Biennale's International Festival of Contemporary Dance, usually held the first
two weeks in June. For more modern movement, check the schedule at Teatro Fondamen-
ta Nuove; ballet performances are usually staged at Teatro Goldoni, which also shows
contemporary theatre and Shakespeare, usually in Italian.
