1st-century AD Roman villa is a picturesque complex of teetering stone arches and
tumbledown walls, some three storeys high. It's the largest domestic Roman villa in north-
ern Italy and wandering its terraced hillsides offers fantastic views.

is blessed with a series of offshore thermal springs that pump out water at a natural 37°C.
At the Aquaria spa you can wallow in two thermal pools - the outdoor one is set right be-
side the lake. Bring along your swimsuit and flip-flops (thongs); towels and robes will be
provided. Swimsuits are also available for purchase.
Other treatments - including mud sessions (€50) and massages (€80) - have to be
booked in advance.

An inordinate number of hotels are crammed into Sirmione, many of which close from the
end of October to March. Four campgrounds lie near the town and the tourist office can
advise on others around the lake.
