RENÉ WELTI, GUIDE AND FOUNDER OF ECHO TRAILS
1 WALK THE MUSEGG WALL
As you walk along this 14th-century Lucerne fortification ( Click here ) and go up the
self-guided historic towers you are rewarded with the best views of town, the lake and
the mountains.
2 DO THE PILATUS MOUNTAIN
Pilatus ( Click here ; 2100m) is Lucerne's home mountain. It features friendly dragon
playgrounds for kids, rope parks, dragon-cave walks, a secure Alpine flower path and
Swiss Alps as far as you can see. Hear your own echo, enjoy delicious food and even
luxurious accommodation, all accessible with public transport: the world's steepest
cogwheel railway, aerial trams, gondolas and boats.
3 SWIM LAKE LUCERNE
Cool off at the many Lake Lucerne swimming facilities and savour Alpine scenery
while you swim in crystal-clear waters that start in the Gotthard Pass and flow down
the Ruess river. ( Tribschen , the lakeside swimming facility run by the city of Lu-
cerne, is my favourite.)
