13.4.1.2 or, to the extent that Alternative A is not implemented by the
Contractor or, if implemented, to the extent that the Price Statement
or amended Price Statement is not accepted, under Alternative B in
clause 13.4.1.2. Clause 13.4.1.1 shall not apply in respect of a Vari-
ation for which the Architect has issued a confirmed acceptance of a
13A Quotation or it is a Variation to which clause 13A.8 applies.

.2 Alternative A: Contractor's Price Statement

A1 Without prejudice to his obligation to comply with any instruc-
tion or to execute any work to which clause 13.1.1 refers, the
Contractor may within 21 days from receipt of the instruction
or from commencement of work for which an Approximate
Quantity is included in the Contract documents or, if later,
from receipt of sufficient information to enable the Contractor
to prepare his Price Statement, submit to the Quantity Sur-
veyor his price ('Price Statement') for such compliance or for
such work.
The Price Statement shall state the Contractor's price for the
work which shall be based on the provisions of clause 13.5
(valuation rules)
and may also separately attach the Contract-
or's requirements for:

any amount to be paid in lieu of any ascertainment under clause 26.1
of direct loss and/or expense not included in any accepted 13A
Quotation or in any previous ascertainment under clause 26;

any adjustment to the time for completion of the Works to the extent
that such adjustment is not included in any revision of the Comple-
tion Date that has been made by the Architect under clause 25.3 or in
his confirmed acceptance of any 13A Quotation.

A2 Within 21 days of receipt of a Price Statement the Quantity
Surveyor, after consultation with the Architect, shall notify the
Contractor in writing

A3 Where the Price Statement or a part thereof has been accepted
the price in that accepted Price Statement or in that part which
has been accepted shall in accordance with clause 13.7 be
added to or deducted from the Contract Sum.

the Quantity Surveyor shall include in his notification to the
Contractor the reasons for not having accepted the Price
Statement or a part thereof and set out those reasons in
