1 EAGLE HIDE
The Isle of Mull is the only place on the planet with a public viewing hide overlooking
the nesting area of rare white-tailed sea eagles. The hide offers a unique and privileged
view of the UK's largest bird of prey, and income goes to help local causes. Check
with the visitor information centre at Craignure ( Click here ) for the current location
of the hide.
2 SPIRIT OF IONA
Too many visitors race through Mull. Slow down and try to spend a night on Iona (
Click here ) . On a warm, sunny day in summer you can't beat it. In the evening take a
stroll or cycle along the quiet lanes and listen to the amazing call of the endangered
corncrake, which the local farmers and crofters have helped recover from the brink of
extinction in the UK.
3 STAFFA & THE TRESHNISH ISLES
A bit of puffin-spotting ( Click here ) on these magical islands is a must. Other seabirds
such as guillemots, razorbills and kittiwakes cram onto the narrow cliff ledges and
their ' aroma' will stay in your nostrils for a long time. The geology of the islands, es-
pecially Staffa, is remarkable.
