Discussion/conclusion.
The hypothesis was supported by the results. Although the data show color themes
acquired from experience with different types of websites, they also point at a stark
contrast between what would be acceptable for formal uses, and what would be
suitable for private use. The results were comparable between the Czech and Chinese
groups.
37) How do you feel about red background color with yellow text?

Hypothesis.
Red color with yellow text is used for special occasions (festivities, family gatherings,
national holidays).
Results summary.
The majority of the respondents (65%) reacted negatively to the color combination.
The reason for it was low readability, and because it is not widely used. On the
Web it might be encountered with spam. A smaller group (25%) reacted positively,
because the colors conveyed feelings of warmth and happiness. Only a small group of
respondents was neutral (10%). On the whole, the respondents connected the colors
with the national flag, the government, banners, and also weddings, hotels, optimism,
and clothes.
Czech
Results summary.
Half of the respondents (50%) reacted negatively to the color combination, mostly
because of very low readability and usage in spam. A smaller group reacted neutrally
(40%). The results were mostly mixed between poor aesthetics and low readability;
but on the other hand, such a combination would get a user's attention. Only 10% of
the respondents reacted positively, and would use the colors themselves.
Discussion/conclusion.
The hypothesis was partly supported by the results. Interestingly, although many re-
spondents liked the colors, the majority of them looked at the color combination from
the perspective of usability. Therefore, the respondents did not like the combination,
when it came to practical usage and readability. Interestingly, the Chinese respon-
dents reacted more negatively, than the Czechs, who had more diverse views on the
subject.
