West Hollywood Municipal Parking Lot (2004)
In the spring of 2004, the city of West Hollywood, California, unveiled the first
porous pavement parking lot in southern California. This small, 28-space parking
lot was built on the site of a demolished building on Santa Monica Banlevard,
where parking is at a critical level, and was considered by the city to uphold
one of its core values of environmental stewardship. The opening was a public
relations event, with all media present for the ribbon cutting (Figure B-41).
