In-Depth Information
Acropolis Area
Athens' crown jewel is, of course, the Acropolis. This epic monument stands
sentinel over the city, and on its southern slopes a fabulous modern museum
holds its treasures in spacious splendour. The pedestrian promenade between the
Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum bustles with tourists, and despite being just
south of this historic hub the quiet neighbourhood of Makrygianni is refreshingly
untouristy.

Getting There
Metro The metro is the best option. Akropoli station (red line) sits near the Acropolis Museum at the base of
the Acropolis hill, just off the major boulevard Leoforos Syngrou.
