In-Depth Information
Bus & Trolleybus
Best for… airport after the metro has stopped running.
For the city centre, walking, metro and taxis are almost always the better choice. Buses
are better for areas not reached by metro.
Athens' overhead cable trolleybuses run between 5am and midnight and service much of
the city. Trolleybuses run 24 hours on the 11-Patisia-Pangrati route.
Tram
Best for… beach-club hopping.
Athens' single tram ( www.tramsa.gr ) line takes a scenic route along the coast, but it is
not the fastest means of transport. It's handy for revellers travelling to the city's beaches
and beach clubs (operating around the clock from Friday evening to Sunday, every 40
minutes).
The central terminus is opposite the National Gardens. Tickets (€1.40) are purchased on
the platforms. Trams run from Syntagma to Faliro (tram 4, 50 minutes) and to Voula (tram
5, 59 to 65 minutes) from 5am to midnight Monday to Thursday and Sunday and 24 hours
Friday and Saturday.
