Cross NW Marine Dr and head down West Mall, turning left on Crescent Rd
then right onto Main Mall. On your left is the free-entry Morris and Helen
Belkin Gallery ( Click here ) , which houses an impressive modern-art collection.
Continue southwards along Main Mall, then turn right onto Memorial Rd.
Continue downhill until you come to the rock garden of the UBC Asian Centre
, on your right. The boulders here are inscribed with Confucian philosophies.
Continue along Memorial and ahead you will see the entrance to the oasis-like,
Japanese-themed Nitobe Memorial Garden ( Click here ). Spend time here im-
mersing yourself in the site's subtle yet meaningful design. Tours are often avail-
able and are highly recommended.
Return to NW Marine Dr and continue southeastwards for about 1km. If you're
feeling adventurous, look for the signs for Trail 6. Follow the trail to the waterfront,
where you can disrobe - you're on Wreck Beach ( Click here ) , Vancouver's of-
ficial naturist beach. It's the only one in the region.
Continue your walk along NW Marine Dr until it becomes SW Marine Dr. Near
the intersection with W 16th Ave, you'll find UBC Botanical Garden ( Click
here ) . Wander through the garden areas and save time for the Greenheart Can-
opy Walkway, an illuminating elevated walk through the trees.
