In-Depth Information
Head southwest along Howe St, turn left onto W Hastings St and then right
onto bustling Granville St. Follow this uphill thoroughfare; it's one of the city's
most important commercial streets. You'll pass coffee shops, clothing stores and
the Pacific Centre, downtown's biggest mall.
Get your bearings at the busy intersection of Granville & W Georgia Sts , in
the heart of the downtown core. Check out the shops around here or nip across
one block to the Vancouver Art Gallery ( Click here ) for a culture fix.
From here, stroll southeast a couple of blocks to the magnificent, Colosseum-
like Vancouver Public Library ( Click here ) . The glass-enclosed atrium is a
perfect place to grab a coffee, or you can pop inside and check your email for
free.
Head northwest from here along Robson St, the city's mainstream shopping
promenade, where you can wander to your credit card's content through
boutiques, bookstores and shoe shops. There are many restaurants here, too, if
it's time to eat.
Take a breather at the clamorous intersection of Robson & Burrard Sts ,
then turn right and head along Burrard toward the mountain vista glinting ahead
of you. Duck into the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver ( Click here ) to view the lux-
ury lobby, then continue downhill to Christ Church Cathedral . You'll soon be
back at Canada Place...but have a treat at
Bella Gelateria ( Click here ) first.
