ledgeable birdwatchers.
BIRDWATCHING ON KINMEN
Lying along the migratory routes of hundreds of bird species and boasting a variety
of habitats, Kinmen is rightly seen as a paradise for birdwatchers. Over 300 spe-
cies of birds have been recorded, with about 40 resident species and the rest mi-
gratory. Lake Ci is one of the top twitching spots, especially in winter when thou-
sands of great cormorants come to nest.
To the east, Lake Tai is a feeding ground for cormorants and ospreys, species
best seen in the early morning. Later in the day look for the resident woodpecker-
like hoopoe feeding in the grass of nearby Banyan Park.
