International Container Arts Festival FESTIVAL
(Guójì huòguì yìshù jié) As befitting a port city, a quirky International Container Arts Festiv-
al is held biannually (in odd-numbered years). Containers are used as art material.
International Lion Dance Festival & Competition FESTIVAL
(Gāoxióng Xìshījiǎ Yìshùjié) The colourful International Lion Dance Festival & Competition
held every December in Kaohsiung Arena is a raucous folk extravaganza. The two-day
event drew 30,000 visitors from Taiwan, China, Malaysia and Singapore in 2012. Tickets

dorms. If you arrive in Kaohsiung keen for company, this could be the place for you
